A Progressive Metal Opera

About
Ardarith is a progressive metal project founded by Max Pfaffinger in 2016. After being the songwriter and guitarist of the hardcore band Q.E.D. he took a long break from writing music. In 2015 the war in Syria changed the world. A lot of people lost their homes and some of them left everything behind to start a new life somewhere else. This and even more the reactions of many people in his country led to one recurring question: what does it mean to make this decision?
This question was the starting point to the writing and production of the first Ardarith Album "Home".
It all started with the approach to look inside someone who actually made this journey. A lot of interviews and talks showed that it is impossible to do justice to the complexity of this matter. Yet there were emotions everyone had in common, meaning every human being has in common.
So even if the story is about one individuum, the idea behind it is eligible for everyone.
The main musical influences of Max are bands like Amorphis, Opeth, Ayreon but also Queensryche, Queen or The Doors. But it is not only about the music. It is about transporting an idea, a vision or a philosophy by combining music and lyrics to one big whole.
After writing the first riffs and lyrics, the whole idea about Ardarith came to life: different singers, an ongoing story, no classical song structures. The first album takes the listener on a journey, together with the main character, and gives him something to think about.
This is what art is all about. Finding new answers, dealing with something important and giving the listeners some food for thoughts. And that is Ardarith.
